5 easy ways to improve your work-life balance

Anyone with a crazy demanding job and a thriving social life understands the stress of balancing an ever-increasing workload with the demands of life outside of the office. Though it is awesome to excel at your career when it bleeds into your personal life it can be a bit annoying.

So what can we do to stop stressing and perfect our work life balance? Here a five fool-proof ways to adjust and perfect your time balancing skills.

Schedule Leisure Time

Your planner is your best friend. In order for you to successfully find time to enjoy your youth, you need to learn how to manage your time. Utilize your calendar – write everything down, date night, hobby time, girls night, spending time with your children etc. After carving out time – be sure to honor the “appointment” and stick to the plan no matter what!

Take a Vacation

Take this opportunity to disconnect from all things work-related. You don’t need to go somewhere far, and you don’t have to spend loads of money, but you definitely need to recharge in order to be the most productive version of yourself. Let the cell phone go, turn off that laptop and prepare your body for the turn-up!

Learn How to say NO

Listen, you don’t have to adhere to every request that comes your way. If it doesn’t fit into your schedule there’s no need to overwhelm yourself. Bottom line, don’t do things out of guilt – spend your time focusing on your top priorities.

Get rid of your distractions

Television, cell phone, laptop, loud music, whichever device that constantly steals your focus needs to go. Give yourself the opportunity to focus on whatever it is you’re doing and being successful at it. Procrastination your biggest enemy.

Leave the office early, period.

Sounds impossible? Not really. Set a departure time – that set time serves as a deadline to get all of your tasks done for the day.

Try it! On Monday choose a departure time, remember you need to have all tasks completed before that time, stick to it and walk out of the office earlier than usual.

My workdays end at 4:45 PM, by 4:30 PM I’ve gone to the bathroom, my bag is packed, my desk is clean, and my computer is shutting down. I’m out the door at 4:42 PM – I don’t receive OT so I play NO GAMES. Prioritize your work for the day and you’ll be able to do the same, trust me!

These are a few of the rules that I live by thus far and I’ve been pretty successful. Let me know if you guys have any other fun tips and tricks for balancing your work-life!

LOVE THIS!!! It’s so true – we need to schedule leisure time, and follow through with it. My weeks started being SO much better when I started planning weekend yoga sessions with my girlfriend. Even though we had to get our asses out of bed, the rest of the day can be SO amazing. I’m just full of energy I’m not used to.

LOVE YOUR BLOG GIRL! I'm excited to follow along.

Thank you for the reminder– it is so easy to get consumed and overwhelmed when you are a business owner, full-time employee, mom, wife, superhero, etc. I think I’ll take your advice and schedule a vacation, as long as I can call on you if I get any backlash from my boss 😉
